Some time back I wrote a letter in the Times of Malta complaining about the shabby way we GO subscribers to The Sports Channel are being treated and asked for the Malta Communications Authority or the unit responsible for consumer protection to intervene and rectify the situation.

The newspaper carried its own item about the subject on the same day. GO said it would appease those new subscribers after July or thereabouts. This is unbelievable!

On October 9 The Sunday Times of Malta published a full-page advert jointly between GO and the Premier League explaining the state of affairs.

Unfortunately, this explanation is unacceptable to me and many other subscribers. I signed a new agreement with GO on March 7 for a Limitless Home Pack Gold Interactive, including GO Sports for a period of two years, after the previous agreement was about to expire on April 29.

I signed this agreement on page one of a bundle of 36 small print details (General Terms and Conditions) which I did not read and nor was I asked to. The contract stated that I would be entitled to view GO Sports for €16 per month.

Now it emerges that on page 20 it is specified that the GO Sports rights for both Barclays Premier League and Serie A matches expired in May 2016.

I wonder why I was not informed when I was signing an agreement for two years that an integral part of this agreement (GO Sports broadcast rights) was going to expire in just under three months. As a ‘sop’ I was given a ‘special offer’ of two months free subscription.

Once again I ask the MCA to check the validity of this situation and, if my rights are not being respected, to rectify it immediately.
