Senglea Athletic 3
Fgura United 0

Senglea made sure of the points after scoring three goals in the first 45 minutes to return to winning ways after the upset in the derby to Vittoriosa in their previous match.

The final scoreline, however, was somewhat harsh on Fgura who were also unlucky on two occasions when they were denied by the woodwork.

Senglea opened the score when from a weak Juninho Cabral effort, the ball was fumbled by keeper Matthew Camilleri and rolled in.

Fgura tried to hit back but they were stunned when Senglea scored two more goals.

Christian Cassar made it 2-0 after he was put through by Cabral, and then Augustine Obaje-Smith did all the spadework before blasting in from inside the box.

Fgura were close to pulling one back after the restart when a Spiteri effort was stopped by the bar.

With leaders Senglea administering their lead, Fgura continued to dictate matters but the closest they went was through a Matthew Spiteri effort which was again stopped by the goal-frame.

Pieta Hotspurs 2
Vittoriosa Stars 3

Vittoriosa joined Senglea and Mqabba at the top of the table after beating Pieta by the odd goal in five in a lively match.

Pieta threatened first when Neil Pace Cocks forced Karl Magri into a fine save. Vittoriosa had a Grech effort that just missed the target.

Pieta took the lead on 19 minutes from a free-kick taken by captain Christian Grech.

Vittoriosa went close to an equaliser soon after thanks to Liam Gauci. He dribbled past three opponents but was foiled in the last minute by Jacob Chircop St John.

Just before the break the Pieta keeper again did well to keep out a Petr Mrvic header from a free-kick.

Vittoriosa drew level soon after the restart, through the unmarked Andre Farrugia, and they took the lead six minutes later when substitute Fabjo Dhrami scored after a fine solo effort.

On 55 minutes Gabriel Mensah found Pace Cocks who drew the teams level again.

Dhrami was close but his header hit the upright. However, he was on target on 84 minutes when he banged home the winner following a Grech centre from the right.
