Tonight, Orkestra Żurrieq will perform in Rocktober, a concert that will feature several popular rock songs from legendary bands such as Pink Floyd, Metallica, Deep Purple and many more.

Under the baton of Chris Role, a group of 40 young talented musicians will be joining Poison Brew, a local rock band, to put together a great show particularly targeted at those who love classic rock.

Orkestra Żurrieq was founded in 2013 under the auspices of the Żurrieq Local Council subcommittee for culture and tourism. Its members participate on a voluntary basis. Since its foundation, the group performs in concerts featuring both classical music as well as contemporary pop songs. This summer, they also took to the stage in Borgo Maggiore, San Marino, as part of a twinning programme between the two towns.

■  Rocktober is taking place tonight in Republic Square, Żurrieq, from 8pm onwards and entrance is free.
