Today sees the start of the second run of two plays: The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie and Il-Giddieb Għomru Qasir.

MADC’s production, directed by Chiara Hyzler, features Julia Calvert as Jean Brodie, an eccentric, egocentric and charismatic teacher in an all-girls school in Edinburgh who has a deep impact on the lives of her chosen students.

Il-Giddieb Għomru Qasir is the Maltese version of Anthony Neilson’s black comedy The Lying Kind, being staged by Unifaun Theatre. It centres on two conscientious policemen who decide to lie when having to inform an elderly couple who suffer from a heart condition about the death of their daughter on Christmas Eve.

■ Both plays are being staged today, tomorrow and Sunday at 8pm. The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie is on at Blue Box at MSpace in Msida and is suitable for those aged 14 and over.
