Rossiter: Jordan Rossiter will miss Rangers’ Premiership trip to Inverness tonight but boss Mark Warburton hopes the midfielder will be ready to face Celtic next week. A calf strain has kept the former Liverpool youngster out for the last month but he has now resumed training alongside playmaker Josh Windass, who is fit again after hamstring troubles. Joey Barton will again be conspicuous by his absence, though, after Gers extended his club suspension by another week.

Clemence: New Aston Villa boss Steve Bruce has added Stephen Clemence to his backroom staff at the club. The 38-year-old leaves Hull and joins Villa as first-team coach having also previously worked with Bruce at Sunderland. He joined Hull in 2012 and helped them to two promotions to the Premier League under Bruce and the FA Cup final in 2014.

Dembele: Mousa Dembele’s disjointed start to the season has taken another turn for the worse after the Tottenham midfielder suffered a fresh foot injury in training. Dembele has made only one start in all competitions this term and is now a doubt for Saturday’s game at West Brom after his left, and striking, foot was stamped on in training.

Darmian: Inter have stepped up their attempts to sign Manchester United right-back Matteo Darmian, according to reports in Italy. The 24-year-old Italy international, who has made just one appearance for United this season, is understood to be one of Inter’s primary transfer targets in January. Inter vice-president Javier Zanetti is reported to have flown to Manchester in a bid to convince United to allow Darmian to leave on loan.

Duggan: Manchester City striker Toni Duggan has been recalled to the England Women squad for friendly matches against France and Spain. Duggan, who recently won the league and cup double with her club, was left out by head coach Mark Sampson for last month’s Euro 2017 qualifiers against Estonia and Belgium.
