The Fine Arts Auction 2016 was launched at the Palace, Valletta.

David Curmi, chairman of the organising committee, said this year the auction had an overwhelming response from local and foreign artists who have a connection with Malta, with over 104 participating artists and 111 works of art with diverse themes expressed in various media.

“The real joy of life comes from giving. It comes from being of service and from doing things for other people. Nothing will make us happier than giving,” said Mr Curmi.

He also expressed his sincere thanks to the remarkable sense of altruism and solidarity shown by the artists who he said had kindly put their special talent at the service of charity and the community we live in.

He then thanked the members of the organising committee, auctioneer Joseph Sammut of Belgravia Auction Gallery and President Marie-Louise Coleiro Preca.

The Fine Arts Auction takes place on Saturday at 7pm.

The works of art may be viewed at the Grand Masters’ Palace, Valletta, from 10am to 6pm.
