Where I live in Swieqi it is not uncommon for car and van drivers to speed out of corners without stopping or braking in the face of oncoming traffic.

It is not uncommon either to meet motorists who feel they own the road and drive at excessive speed down streets which would warrant more careful driving due to oncoming traffic or traffic coming cautiously out of side streets at a moderate speed.

These drivers, who always seem to be in a hurry, take the law into their own hands, without so much as a nod  or a sign of excuse or common respect.

Where are their civil manners?

Or is this an age of rising egoism, which is frankly depressing?
