Dr David Mifsud will give a talk on plant galls on Wednesday, October 5, at 7.30pm at the Cinema Room, St James Cavalier, Valletta, organised by Malta Cafe Scientifique.

Galls are malformations in plants caused by insects, bacteria, mites, fungi and nematodes. The most noticeable malformation is leaf curling, but it can also take the form of complex structures on plants depending on the particular organism or plant species involved. Botanists have recorded over 100 different plant galls in Malta and new ones are being discovered every year.
