A fair showcasing genuine Maltese products and traditional food is being held tonight in Luqa.

Maltese food has been influenced by a variety of cultures, particularly those of Sicilian, North African and Eastern Mediterranean origin. Among the specialties on offer, one will find ġbejniet (cheese made from the milk of sheep or goats), tadam imqadded (sun-ripened tomatoes), bigilla (a thick paste made from djerba beans and garlic) and kapunata (a vegetable-based Maltese version of ratatouille). Those attending will also be able to sample traditional Maltese sweets and wine.

The atmosphere will be enlivened with music and the participation of local band clubs, while age-old Maltese traditions such as lace making will be on display.
