Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas was left fuming after Spanish police allegedly used excessive force when they charged the French club’s fans ahead of the team’s Champions League game at Sevilla on Tuesday.

“Incomprehensible aggression”, Aulas was quoted as saying by sports daily L’Equipe.

A senior member of the supporters’ group ‘The Bad Gones’ said four fans were to appear before a judge as two fans were seriously hurt.

One sustained a broken collarbone and the other had his skull cracked open.

Klopp happy with his ‘pool’ of scorers

Liverpool’s wide range of goalscorers this season is a direct result of their attacking style, according to manager Juergen Klopp.

The Merseyside club have scored 16 goals in six Premier League games this season, with Philippe Coutinho, Adam Lallana, Sadio Mane and James Milner scoring three each.

Klopp would not fuss over who scores the goal as long as the team keep winning.

“It’s a result of our style. We need to have different players in and around the box,” he said.

“When the players make these movements, go these ways, they are in a (scoring) situation.”

Winger Januzaj out for at least six weeks

Sunderland winger Adnan Januzaj has been ruled out for at least six weeks after sustaining an ankle injury in Saturday’s Premier League defeat by Crystal Palace.

Januzaj joined Sunderland on a season-long loan from Manchester United in August after an unhappy last season where he failed to start a league game during his loan spell at Bundesliga side Borussia Dortmund.

“Adnan Januzaj has been ruled out for a minimum of six weeks after suffering an ankle injury during Sunderland’s 3-2 defeat to Crystal Palace,” the club said.

Sunderland, who are bottom of the league table with one point from six games, host West Brom on Saturday.

Pochettino hails prodigious Son

Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino has praised Son Heung-min for stepping up in Harry Kane’s absence, adding that the forward “is on fire” after scoring the winner in Tuesday’s 1-0 Champions League victory at CSKA Moscow.

South Korea international Son has scored five goals in all competitions for Spurs this season.

“I think it is key. It is very important that not only Harry, who was good before his injury and scored, that now another player has scored and that is very important for the team,” Pochettino told reporters.

“I feel very pleased for Sonny. He is on fire and to keep this form is very important for us.”

De Bruyne may return in three weeks

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has said Kevin de Bruyne’s hamstring problem is “not a big injury” and believes the midfielder could return to action in around three weeks.

De Bruyne limped off in the 3-1 league win at Swansea City on Saturday but could be back for the Champions League Group C clash with Barcelona at the Nou Camp on Oct. 19.

The Belgium international has been in inspirational form this season, scoring two goals and adding four assists to help City win six successive league games.

“Kevin is not a big injury... in two-and-a-half or three weeks, maybe he will be ready,” Guar-diola told reporters.

Dempsey to miss rest of MLS season

Seattle Sounders striker Clint Dempsey will miss the remainder of the Major League Soccer season with an irregular heartbeat, the club announced.

The news also likely rules Dempsey out of two United States World Cup qualifiers in November. Dempsey, 33, has not played since the health issue was diagnosed late last month.

“His return to play is not important relative to his health, both short term and long term,” said Seattle general manager Garth Lagerwey.

“We feel that by ruling him out today, it puts us in the best position to eventually get him back hopefully for the 2017 season.”

Strachan recalls Hull City’s Maloney

Shaun Maloney has earned a Scotland recall for the World Cup qualifiers against Lithuania and Slovakia.

The Hull City midfielder was left out for the opening win against Malta because of a lack of game time but he is back in for Fulham’s Kevin McDonald.

Maloney has made two EFL Cup starts and three Premier League substitute appearances this season, while McDonald was immediately back in the Fulham team after withdrawing from the squad ahead of the 5-1 win over Malta.

Manager Gordon Strachan said: “Shaun has been used as a substitute quite a lot with Hull and played a game last week against Stoke, a terrific game.

“So he is back in again.”
