The Insanity of Vanity, which opened yesterday at Spazju Kreattiv, is a transmedia exhibition exploring the social infatuation of posting selfies online.

This exhibition, by Angele Galea, Alba Florian Viton (actress) and Mia Scerri (videography) is a social comment on the frivolity of vanity and the fragility of our existence, once humans stop caring for one another.

A short film follows an individual transfixed with selfies in the moments before and after she takes a selfie. She grotesquely portrays the insanity of it all.

The creative team argue that the fact that most people can exhibit their portraits online has led to the unhappy situation of indifference, where those who obsessively want to stand out do so at the cost of being unaware of what is happening around them.

This project is being held in collaboration with the Spazju Kreattiv Programme, supported by Notte Bianca.

■  The exhibition opened yesterday and runs until October 9 at Space B, Spazju Kreattiv. For more information, visit http://kreattivita.org .
