Wardens and police were out in full force on the streets this morning to try to get some order into the traditional chaotic situation in the streets as the scholastic season kicks off. 

Readers reported tailbacks of traffic in areas like Naxxar, Gżira and Mosta as school transport added to the number of vehicles in Malta's choked streets. Other areas, like the Strand in Sliema, was surprisingly free of traffic during this morning's rush hour. 

Over 30,000 students returned to their school benches today, a day normally associated with heavy traffic. 

Times of Malta noticed a number of traffic wardens doing a sterling job in directing traffic near the Kind's showroom in Mosta. Fifty officials, from police officers to wardens, have been placed in strategic roads across the country to better control the traffic flow.
