The yearly advance and intermediate examination results should be published without further delay, the Studenti Demokratici Maltin said today.

The statement from the students' organisation comes after MATSEC today "finally" published the Ordinary Level September session examination results.

It said a number of educational institutions have already started their new scholastic year or will do so in the coming days.

A number of students have contacted SDM expressing their anger at the current situation whereby students have been left in the dark regarding their educational future with just a few days left until the start of the scholastic year.

"We believe that the current system is not working in favour of the students’ best interests and thus needs a major overhaul."

During the past four years, SDM said it has always pressured MATSEC to immediately publish students’ results, especially with regards to supplementary examinations sessions in September.

While the academic year at the University of Malta starts today, G.F. Abela Junior College starts its scholastic year next week, Giovanni Curmi Higher Secondary’s registration days start tomorrow, and MCAST Freshers’ Week starts on Wednesday.

SDM called on MATSEC to not only publish examination results without further delay, but also work on revamping its system of result publication when it comes to strict deadlines for results publication and increasing communication efforts with examination candidates.
