As the ‘grandee’ of Gozo Mike Wagstaff was so quick to point out when he was trying to portray me as a rabid racist recently over my Brexit comments, he really comes across as the epitomy of local government ‘officials’ that he was back in the UK where wheelie bins litter every street.
There is a simple solution to his ‘problem’: do what we do here in Mellieħa – go to the supermarket and buy a roll of 32” x 40” refuse sacks. Then you can empty the small bags into the big one until full or tie the food bags up and put them in a bigger bag.
Personally, my wife and I hardly generate enough food waste to fill a council-supplied bag once a week. I am sure, as an ex-serviceman he must receive a pension as I do and being an ex-local government ‘officer’ will have had a generous pay off as all government officials do. A couple of euros for a roll or two of big bin bags would be a simple solution to his ‘problem’.
