Alternattiva Demokratika has demanded enforcement on Manoel Island and other longstanding illegalities such as tuna farms, Montekristo and Armier.

In a video message, chairman Arnold Cassola said AD was four square behind Kamp Emerġenza Ambjent.

Members of the protest group yesterday pulled down part of the fencing at Manoel Island which had been closing off access to the foreshore.

It also welcomed calls by the government and the PA for developers MIDI to permanently provide access to the foreshore.

Later in the morning a group of some 300 mostly residents from Gzira held a fresh protest, calling for free access to the foreshore. They later roamed on various parts of the island.

Prof. Cassola welcomed the enforcement the government had called for and hoped this would be the beginning of the removal of other illegalities in Malta for the people to be able to enjoy the heritage that was theirs by right.
