SANT CASSIA. On Thursday, September 22, at Mater Dei Hospital, after a long illness borne with Christian fortitude, MARIO, Ph.C., MD, residing at Wardija, St Paul’s Bay, aged 92, surrounded by his family and comforted by the rites of Holy Church, passed away peacefully to meet the Lord. He leaves to mourn his great loss, his loving, devoted and caring wife Melina née Boffa, his cherished children Paul and his wife Kristina, Suzanne and her husband Mario, Peter and his wife Marie Louise, and Joanna and her husband Joseph, his beloved grandchildren Simon, Mark, Maria, Chiara, Andrea and Christian, other relatives and friends, the Wardija community, and his carers Florante and Jennyvie Bartolome. The funeral cortège leaves Mater Dei Hospital today, Saturday at 1.30pm for the Metropolitan Cathedral of Mdina, where Mass præsente cadavere will be celebrated at 2pm (parking available at It-Tomba, Howard Gardens, Rabat, with access near the Roman Villa), followed by interment in the family grave at the Carmelite Crypt, Mdina. The family is grateful to Fr Guido Muscat OFM Conv who consistently gave spiritual support and solace to him and to his wife. The family also thanks the family doctor, and all consultants, doctors, nurses and staff at Mater Dei Hospital, for their professionalism, compassion and dedication. No flowers by request, but donations to Id-Dar tal-Providenza, Siġġiewi, will be appreciated. Lord, grant him eternal rest.
SAMUT-TAGLIAFERRO. On September 22, MARIE-CELINE née ALOISIO, widow of Stephen, passed away peacefully comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her loss her sons Nicholas and his wife Rhona and Stephen and his wife Arianne, her grandchildren Stephanie and her partner Micko, Alexia, Ella, Jeremy, Suzanne and Sarah, her great- granddaughter Alexandra, her sisters Rose Marie Blease and Elizabeth Aloisio her brothers Alfred and Alexander Aloisio, her sister-in-law Lena Giorgio, nephews and nieces and their families. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital on Monday, September 26, at 1.30pm for St Gregory The Great Parish Church, Sliema where Mass præsente cadavere will be celebrated at 2pm followed by interment at Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. Lord, grant her eternal rest.
