Valletta left-back Leandro Aguirre will sit out his team’s next two BOV Premier League matches after being sanctioned by the Malta FA Disciplinary Commissioner, yesterday.

Aguirre was sent off for retaliation in stoppage time of Wednesday night’s 2-0 upset to derby rivals Floriana at the National Stadium.

The Argentine will miss Valletta’s match against Hibernians tomorrow and the clash with Birkirkara the following Friday.

Two other Premier League players – Adrian Caruana (Mosta) and Tony (Gżira United) – were also on the suspensions’ list yesterday.

Caruana will have to skip Mosta’s next match (against St Andrew’s on Monday) to serve suspension following his red card in the 0-2 loss to Birkirkara on Thursday.

Brazilian defender Tony got a one-match ban after collecting his fourth yellow card in five matches for the Maroons who play leaders Balzan tomorrow.
