Primary school children will, from Monday, be able to visit any Heritage Malta site for free, while any two adults accompanying them will pay half price.

Some 24,000 pupils attending public, private and church schools can benefit from this scheme, which will last throughout the scholastic year. Some 4,000 have already booked their tickets.

Addressing a press conference at the Vendome Bastion in the lower part of Fort St Elmo, Heritage Malta CEO Kenneth Gambin said that if it proved successful, this scheme would be extended to secondary school students.

The initiative, which allows free entrance to all of Heritage Malta’s 22 sites, apart from the Ħal Saflieni Hypogeum, was launched with the collaboration of the Culture and Education ministries.
