PwC and Trade Malta to aid Asian initiatives
The European Commission has mandated PwC EU Services to support EU Middle Market companies over the next five years to enter the Asian market, and PwC are cooperating with TradeMalta to make Maltese companies aware of this opportunity.
EU Gateway/Business Avenues (https://www.eu-gateway.eu/) is an exclusive programme to help high-growth companies (SMEs headquartered in the EU) with market access to Asia, and focuses on specific industry sectors with significant potential for companies from Europe. The sectors targeted are:
• Construction, building technologies
• Contemporary European design
• Environment, water technologies
• Food & beverage
• Green energy technologies
• Healthcare, medical technologies
• Information and communication technologies
This exclusive and selective programme is designed to facilitate high growth European companies’ entry into the Asian markets and is intended to allow participants to obtain focused business opportunities in target Asian markets, meetings with select business partners, readily available market intelligence, participation in large sector events, low entry costs which are subsidised by the European Commission, coaching on the business mission, services on the spot, and post-mission business support to facilitate the deal. Companies that are interested in entering the Asian market can apply online at www.eu-gateway.eu/ Applications are now open. Besides other criteria, applicants must have been in existence for a minimum of three years (five years for China) and be majority-owned by EU shareholders.
There are four upcoming business missions to Korea, Indonesia and Singapore and China in the first quarter of 2017, besides a number of others later on in the year. The business missions can be considered as an “entry ticket” to markets with opportunities that are difficult to penetrate due to business culture or regulatory constraints.
A dedicated team in Europe and the targeted market supports the companies with market insight, coaching and other customised services – both in preparation for and during the one-week business missions.
