Flimkien għal Ambjent Aħjar (FAA) is presenting Cinema Under the Stars at Villa Bologna on Saturday. The 1972 British comedy thriller film Pulp, set up and shot in Malta, will be shown.

The performance by young Michael Caine – playing the main character, Mickey King – is memorable as he carried off his role with caustic wit, panache and style.

Pulp is praised by critics as an “unregarded gem”, a “comedy treat” that has “much comedic value” and is full of “well derived one-liners”.

However, what makes this movie a cinematic classic is the unique location on the Maltese islands, bathed in russet colours and offbeat charm.

The location of the Cinema Under the Stars night is similarly stunning: Villa Bologna is an 18th-century Maltese country palace surrounded by lush gardens, in the pretty village of Attard (behind San Anton Gardens).

Before the screening, Jean Paul Borg will give a few minutes of introduction on the film’s cinematic background, while members of the original cast and crew will share their memories of their time on the Pulp film set.

■ Doors open at 7pm and will be signposted for the audience’s convenience. The  film begins at 8pm. Tickets may be obtained at https://ticketengine.faa.org.mt/ or at the door.

There will also be a raffle lottery.
