Three new courtrooms will be opened up at the Valletta law courts by the end of 2017, Justice Minister Owen Bonnici said this morning.

Space for the courtrooms will be freed up by relocating part of the archives to Floriana, with the law courts also getting a new training room and library as part of a €750,000 infrastructure project.

As things stand, the 42 members of the judiciary share 24 courtrooms. This number will rise to 27 once the project is completed.
