What a disastrous, demeaning and shambolic situation Air Malta finds itself in.
Dealing with Alitalia, a company that is bankrupt, losing €500,000 a day as openly declared by its chairman and boasting that it will not cost them a cent to acquire the 49 per cent share of Air Malta, they have the audacity to declare top management will be run by Alitalia.
Thus, they will be replacing local expertise, shedding off a large chunk of the staff (admittedly overloaded) and, last but not least, dictating which routes are to be allocated on the North African sectors at the expense of losing the more lucrative European routes presently enjoyed by Air Malta.
Do we not have pride to stamp our authority on our terms on something that definitely belongs to us?
