12.40pm The President departs Malta for New York to participate in a high-level discussion by the Council of World Women Leaders together with Women in Parliaments Global Forum entitled ‘Economic cost of violence against women’, and in an event organised by UN Women on the occasion of the 71st session of the United Nations General Assembly.

Wednesday

3pm The President participates and addresses a high-level discussion organised by the Council of World Women Leaders entitled ‘Economic cost of violence against women’, together with the President of Lithuania and Chair of the Council of World Women Leaders, Dalia Grybauskaite, the President of Chile, Michelle Bachelet Jeria, President of Croatia, Kolinda Grabar-Kitarovic, and Kristalina Georgieva, Vice President of the European Commission, at the UN headquarters in New York.

4.30pm The President meets Lakshmi Puri, deputy executive director of UN Women, in New York.

5.30pm The President addresses a conference organised by UN Women on the occasion of the 71st session of the UN General Assembly in New York

Thursday

10am The President meets Leila Zerrougui, Under Secretary General for Children and Armed Conflict within the UN, in New York.

Noon The President meets Silvana Koch Mehrin, founder of Women in Parliaments Global Forum, in New York.

1.55pm The President visits Columbia University in New York.

7.10pm The President meets Susan Hirsch, Professor in the School for Conflict Analysis and Resolution within George Mason University, in New York .

Friday

9am The President meets former Kosovan president in New York.

10am The President is interviewed by Zuriel Oduwole in New York.

Noon The President meets Marta Santos Pais,  special representative of the Secretary General on Violence against Children, in New York.

8.30pm The President meets the Maltese community in Astoria, New York.

Saturday

10.45am The President meets aroness Patricia Scotland, Secretary General of the Commonwealth of Nations, in New York.

Sunday

The President arrives at Malta International Airport.

11.30am The President presides over a medal-giving ceremony to participants of the ‘Kick smoking – Go cycling’, organised on World Heart Day by the Health Promotion and Disease Prevention Directorate in collaboration with cycling clubs in Malta, at San Anton Palace, Attard.

4pm The President visits the Karl Vella Foundation Open Day at the Karl Vella Foundation Offices in Attard.

6pm The President delivers an opening speech during the intercultural exhibition entitled Malta – Sharing Diversity, organised by the Cross Culture International Foundation, at the Upper Barrakka Gardens, Valletta.
