The University of Malta’s Faculty of Medicine and Surgery in collaboration with the Associazione Chirurghi Ospedalieri Italiani (ACOI) is offering a new master programme in laparoscopic surgery. It is offered in English, both on a full-time basis over a period of one year (three semesters) and on a part-time basis over a period of two years (six semesters).
It consists of 90 ECTS credits as follows:
• Thirty taught ECTS credits will be held at the University of Malta. Full-time and part-time students will attend the first semester of the first year together and teaching will be scheduled predominantly after 3pm;
• Thirty ECTS credits in laparoscopic surgery will comprise hands-on training in specialised hospitals in Italy. Both full-time and part-time students are expected to attend this training. The course fee does not include costs of travel and accommodation; and
• Thirty ECTS credits will be awarded for the dissertation that may be supervised by a University of Malta academic member of staff or a tutor from ACOI, depending on the subject area. The viva voce examination will be held in Malta.
The deadline for applications has been extended to September 30. Applicants who applied by August 31 will be given preference.
