Di Canio: Sky Italia has suspended its ties with former Lazio and West Ham striker Paolo Di Canio after he presented a show wearing a T-shirt that showed he had a tattoo celebrating former Fascist leader Benito Mussolini. Di Canio had his own weekly programme on Sky Italia, to discuss the English premier league, but sparked controversy on Sunday when he appeared with bare arms, with the word “Dux” inked larged on his right forearm. “Dux” refers to Italy’s World War Two leader, Mussolini.

Aguero: Sergio Aguero’s elbow on West Ham’s Winston Reid which landed the Manchester City striker a three-match ban was “aggressive” and “brutal”, an independent commission ruled. The Argentinian escaped a red card for his clash with Reid in City’s 3-1 win at the Etihad Stadium on August 28 but was suspended by the FA after a charge of violent conduct against him was found proven.

Banned: Sinisa Mihajlovic and Rolando Maran, the coaches of Torino and Chievo, respectively, have each been handed a one-match ban by the Italian league. Mihajlovic was sent to the stands for “challenging a refereeing decision” in the 2-1 upset to Atalanta. Maran was found to have “uttered a profane expression”. Sampdoria’s Ricky Alvarez was handed a two-match ban after his red card against Roma on Sunday.

Estonia: Estonia have named their most-capped player, Martin Reim, as national team coach to replace Swede Magnus Pehrsson who stepped down yesterday, the country’s FA said in a statement. The 45-year-old Reim, who won 157 caps from 1992 to 2009, has coached the Baltic country’s U-21 and U-23 national teams. Estonia lost 5-0 to Bosnia in their first 2018 World Cup Group H match and will host Gibraltar in their next qualifier on October 7.
