Ronaldo, 31, began his career at Sporting Lisbon and will face the club when Madrid launch their Champions League title defence tomorrow night at the Santiago Bernabeu stadium. The Real Madrid academy product departed the Bernabeu to join Paris Saint-Germain last month, having failed to nail down a regular first-team berth in the Spanish capital. “I do not see my departure as a failure but rather as an opportunity to demonstrate the footballer that I am. I have come to win titles and fulfil myself as a footballer,” he said.
