Only four of the 26 impounded cars which were up for auction by Transport Malta this morning attracted bidders.

A grey Opel Astra with a starting price of €2,945 attracted the most bidders and was sold for €3,550.

The other three cars that were sold were a Renault Modus, a Fiat Punto and a Mitsubishi Colt. The authority raised a total of €10,500 from the vehicles’ sale.

Among the cars not sold were a Porsche Boxster, a Mercedes Benz CLK320 and a Jaguar S Type.

Some of those who attended the auction said they were dissatisfied with the cars’ condition while others said they would not be bidding as the starting price did not match that of the actual value of the car.

The auction, held at the watchdog’s facility in Pembroke was conducted by Obelisk Auctioneers and Values on behalf Transport Malta.
