Two men and a woman were arrested last night after the police found a box containing 250,000 cigarettes on which duty had not been paid in the pick-up truck they were driving.

The police said the pick-up, which was towing a cabin cruiser, was in Marsascala.

The search was carried out after the police suspected the truck to be carrying drugs or other illicit material.

The arrested men are from Tarxien and Senglea, the woman from Fgura.
