Shaw: Luke Shaw withdrew from the England squad for today’s World Cup qualifier in Slovakia after missing training yesterday morning. The 21-year-old left-back has only just returned from double leg-break and has started the season well with Manchester United. He was replaced in training at St George’s Park by Arsenal’s Tafari Moore, who is part of the Under-20s set-up, and did not fly with the team.

Luis Alberto: Luis Alberto scored a brace on his debut as Lazio ran out 15-0 winners against a local side, yesterday. The 23-year-old midfielder, who joined from Liverpool on deadline day, played in a supporting trident with Cristiano Lombardi and Felipe Anderson behind Filip Djordjevic. Lombardi was the star of the show with four goals, while Djordjevic and Alessandro Murgia got a hat-trick apiece.

Rangers: Kenny Miller hit four goals as Rangers thrashed Linfield 7-0 in Belfast to boost their confidence ahead of their trip to Celtic Park next Saturday. West Brom: West Brom gave starts to trialists Marouane Chamakh and Momo Sissoko in a 1-0 friendly win against Delhi Dynamos yesterday. Former Arsenal striker Chamakh has been looking for a club since his release from Crystal Palace at the end of last season, and he had been linked with a move to Championship club Norwich City. Former Liverpool midfielder Sissoko is in a similar position to Chamakh, having left his previous club Shanghai Shenhua in February after making only 10 appearances.

Celtic: Kris Commons, Efe Ambrose and Kristoffer Ajer have been left out of Celtic’s Champions League squad. Defender Jozo Simunovic and winger Gary Ma-ckay-Steven, who are working their way back from injuries, are included by manager Brendan Rodgers.
