Triq Cinemoon Festival on Thursday, September 8, will focus on the theme of sailing.

This unusual festival, in its fourth year, asks its prospective audience to pick the films that are screened with the general theme this summer being ‘In Motion’.

The films proposed for next week are: The Boat That Rocked, a 2009 comedy by famed British director Richard Curtis centred on pirate radio in the 1960s and featuring a stellar cast including Philip Seymour Hoffman, Bill Nighy, Rhys Ifans, and Kenneth Branagh; Kon-Tiki, a 2012 historical Norwegian drama primarily filmed in Malta and directed by Joachim Ronning and Espen Sandberg about Thor Heyerdahl’s 1947 Kon-Tiki expedition; and El Niño, a Spanish thriller directed by Daniel Monzón in 2014 that recounts the initiation of two youngsters into the world of drug trafficking.

The film obtaining the most votes will be shown on September 8 in the evocative surroundings of Valletta’s enchanting night-time streets. Those who attend can choose their seat on the stepped section of St John’s Street, Valletta, just outside Cafe Society.

Film ratings change depending on the title chosen.

Screenings start at 8.30pm and entrance is free.
