As part of the festivities in the run-up to the celebrations of the Nativity of Our Lady in Naxxar, the Banda Vittorja will be holding its annual concert tomorrow.

This year’s concert will also be held in honour of the society’s centenary. In order to honour the occasion, a visual show will take place accompanied by various scores including Farnon’s State Occasion March, Stivala’s March Le Vainqueur, Verdi’s Dies Irae, a movement from Dvorak’s New World symphony, Camilleri’s Festa from his iconic Malta and Debattista’s Approaching new horizon. The feature will mark the society’s important milestones.

The concert, which is held annually in St Lucy Street, will also include a song written for the occasion by Ray Sciberras with lyrics by Bruce Cortis, Fil-Qlub tan-Naxxarin. Following this, the publication Mitt Sena ta’ Storja (One hundred years of history) will be launched by President Marie-Louise Coleiro Preca.

The concert will then conclude with the Centenary Hymn written by Ray Sciberras and Capt. Ivan Borg’s Innu Marcia Vittoria. The President will then proceed towards the band club for the inauguration of a commemorative banner and memorial.

The activity kicks off at 8.15pm. For further information, visit www.bandavittorjanaxxar.net.

A Festa Tfal is being held today at the Banda Vittorja’s premises starting at 5.30pm.
