Christian Maldini, the son of former Milan great Paolo Maldini, has declared his willingness to help his new club achieve goals during an impromptu presentation at the Victor Tedesco Stadium this evening.

As reported by www.timesofmalta.com last night, 20-year-old Maldini joined Ħamrun Spartans on the transfer window deadline after fruitful last-minute negotiations with Reggiana, his Italian club.

He has come through the youth ranks of AC Milan and joined the Lega Pro side only this summer.

“Despite joining Reggiana this summer I was open to the idea of joining a Maltese club as I was keen to continue my career outside Italy,” he said.

“It is not easy to be the son of Paolo. My father has always been there for me, helping out wherever help was needed, advising and encouraging.

The central defender has joined the newly-promoted side on a short-term loan contract.
