This year’s edition of the Qormi Wine Festival is set to be the biggest ever, presenting an enviable concert line-up, a wide range of Maltese wines, various food stalls, competitions and much more.

It is taking place on Friday and Saturday in Main Street, Qormi, next to St George’s parish church from 7.30pm onwards.

The event sees Marsovin, one of Malta’s foremost wine producers, presenting its products, including Ċittadella, 1919, the whole Caravaggio range, Ulysses and Odyssey.

In order to taste the wines, patrons need to purchase a set of tokens as well as a souvenir wine glass which will be theirs to keep. The glass can be used on both days of the festival. Full bottles will also be available from the wine stalls.

For the first time ever, enthusiasts at this open-air festival will also be able to participate in wine-tasting sessions. They will be held every hour between 8pm and 11pm and participants will be given three different wines to taste, under the professional guidance of Marsovin wine experts.

On Friday only, a separate competition will be held along Main Street for producers of home-made wines.

This year’s food stalls range from pork platters to traditional Maltese fare as well as freshly-baked pizza.

Local duo Xarulu’ and popular Gozitan act Cash & Band will provide the entertainment on Friday night, with the chill-out area featuring a two-hour non-stop concert by the Christian Arding band.

On Saturday, Gianni & Papps will warm up the crowd for headliners Mark Spiteri Lucas and Band, featuring Kaya, Ivan Spiteri Lucas, Ludwig Galea, Neville Refalo and Chiara.

The chill-out area will host Julie Pomorski and Xarulu’.

Visitors to the festival can also take in the majestic parish church as well as a World War II shelter which will be open to the public for the occasion.

4Teenth Productions will present Tour du Ciel within the shelter, a satirical production revolving around popular culture in Maltese villages, the local saints and more.
