Inter have beaten the likes of Manchester United, Chelsea and Leicester to sign sought-after Brazil forward Gabriel Barbosa.
Gabriel, who turned 20 yesterday, has signed a five-year contract at San Siro, just weeks after winning Olympic gold with Brazil at the Rio Games.
Before moving to Italy he had scored 24 league goals for Santos, reportedly attracting the attention of a clutch of English clubs, including Jose Mourinho’s United and champions Leicester.
A statement published on Inter’s website confirmed the two-time Campeonato Paulista winner had committed his future to the Nerazzurri until 2021.
Frank de Boer’s side are yet to taste victory in Serie A this season and will hope Gabriel can boost their fortunes when the campaign resumes at Pescara next month.
