Jeremain Lens has completed his loan move from Sunderland to Fenerbahce.

Holland international Lens, who arrived on Wearside just over 12 months ago after signing from Dinamo Kiev for £8m, has joined the Turkish side on a season-long loan.

The 28-year-old managed just 16 starts in all competitions for Sunderland and has featured as a substitute twice this season under new manager David Moyes.

Fenerbahce boss Dick Advocaat signed Lens for Sunderland but following the Dutchman’s departure, the winger found himself marginalised under replacement Sam Allardyce.

Sassuolo lose points

Sassuolo have appealed against a Lega Serie A decision to punish them with a 3-0 walkover defeat for fielding an unregistered player against Pescara.

The Neroverdi beat promoted Pescara 2-1 at home on Sunday but in its disciplinary report the Lega claimed that Sassuolo substitute Antonino Ragusa had not been named in the squad list.

However, in a statement published on their official website yesterday, Sassuolo insisted they fulfilled the league’s registration requirements regarding the recently signed winger “correctly and promptly”.

The Mapei Stadium club will now look to identify what might have gone wrong with the computerised system, with a view to finding evidence that will help convince the authorities to restore the result.

Italy striker Okaka moves to Watford

Italy striker Stefano Okaka has joined Watford on a five-year deal from Anderlecht.

The Premier League side gave no financial details of the deal.

Okaka, 27, helped Anderlecht finish third in the league last season, scoring 17 goals, but has clashed with new coach Rene Weiler, according to the Belgian media.

The Italian has played in the Premier League before, spending part of the 2010 season at Fulham on loan from Roma.

Barcelona swoop for striker Alcacer

Barcelona announced yesterday the signing of Spain forward Paco Alcacer from Valencia on a five-year contract.

He moves to the Nou Camp on his 23rd birthday for a fee of €30 million and is likely to be the Spanish champions’ last signing in the transfer window.

Alcacer’s buyout clause has been set at €100 million and the player, who is on international duty with Spain, will be unveiled next week.

Barca’s priority was to add a striker but they lost out on signing Nolito and Kevin Gameiro, with the former joining Manchester City and the latter Atletico Madrid.

Goalkeeper Hart to play for Torino

Manchester City goalkeeper Joe Hart has joined Serie A side Torino on loan until the end of the season, the player’s agent confirmed yesterday.

The 29-year-old has been out of favour at Manchester City since the arrival of new manager Pep Guardiola and dropped to number three in the pecking order behind £17 million signing Claudio Bravo and Willy Caballero.

Hart’s agent Jonathan Barnett said: “Yes, Joe Hart will play at Torino. It’s done.

“He has said ‘yes’ to the club and now Manchester City have given the OK. It’s all true, the transfer is certain.”

Hart is on international duty with England this week but has been given permission to fly to Italy to resolve his future.

Burnley land forward Bamford

Burnley have signed Chelsea forward Patrick Bamford on a season-long loan, the Premier Lea-gue club said yesterday.

The 22-year-old joins the club following loan spells with Norwich City and Crystal Palace last season, making a total of 13 appearances in England’s top flight last campaign.

“Burnley Football Club is delighted to confirm the signing of Chelsea striker Patrick Bamford on a season-long loan,” the club said on its website.

Burnley, who lost 3-0 to Chelsea on Saturday, will hope to get back to winning ways when they host Hull on September 10.

Rosicky returns to Sparta Prague

Former Arsenal and Borussia Dortmund midfielder Tomas Rosicky has returned to his home town to join Sparta Prague.

The 35-year-old left the Gunners in July after enjoying 10 years in the Premier League and, despite making only one appearance last season, was included in the Czech squad at Euro 2016.

He retired from international football following the tournament and has now agreed a two-year contract with Sparta, the club with whom he began his senior career in 1998.

A statement published on the Czech side’s website said Rosicky had trained with his new team-mates yesterday afternoon.
