London-based tenor Cliff Zammit Stevens will be performing in his eighth solo concert on Sunday, September 4, at 8pm.

Zammit Stevens has been described as a “revelation” by The Daily Express, and as “show[ing] exceptional promise” by Opera Magazine.

Taking place at Pjazza Teatru Rjal in Valletta, the concert sees the backing of the Malta Philharmonic Orchestra under the baton of British conductor Philip Walsh. Also joining the singer on stage will be talented Maltese soprano Nicola Said, ambassador for the Malta Airport Foundation.

With a programme that will range from Mozart to Tchaikovsky and Verdi to De Curtis, the open air theatre will be filled with various renditions of well-known, as well as not-so-known, operatic pieces, orchestral pieces, solos and duets.

“Last year was the first time I ventured away from performing accompanied by just a piano,” Zammit Stevens explained. “I was overwhelmed with the response and people’s enthusiasm after my sold-out concert, so I’m very much looking forward to this year’s!”

Zammit Stevens moved to the UK eight years ago to study at the Royal College of Music and has had an incredibly successful few years, even performing for Queen Elizabeth II. He has just finished touring the UK, performing as Tebaldo in Bellini’s Capuleti e I Montecchi, during which he sang at the world-famous Minack Theatre in Cornwall.

The tenor is, however, happy to return to home turf and views the concert as a way to reconnect with those who have supported him from the very beginning of his career.

Tickets to the show can be purchased from www.ticketline.com.mt, with reduced prices for those aged between five and 12 years of age.

The concert is officially endorsed by Valletta2018.
