Environment Minister José Herrera met with Environment Commissioner David Pace today, days after Mr Pace slammed the Mepa demerger as a failure that resulted in a "toothless" Environment and Resources Authority.

In a brief statement, the Environment Ministry said that Dr Herrera and Mr Pace discussed "various" subjects, from the ERA to noise pollution and fish farms.

The 6-page letter Mr Pace had written the minister was also discussed, the ministry said.

Mr Pace also presented the minister with a report issued by his office titled 'Access to the countryside - the right to ramble.'
