Proposing over dinner might be one of the most common ways to ask for a woman's hand in marriage. Doing so suspended in the sky from a crane and strapped to a chair takes it to new heights.

Frenchman Aurelien Besnard, 26, was ecstatic when his girlfriend Annabel Grima, who turned 28 yesterday, said "yes' last night.

Mr Besnard chose to take advantage of the Dinner in the Sky concept currently operating over the Grand Harbour.

"Four years ago, I was very excited to discover a new island. After a year I fell in love not only with the island but with a Maltese lady... I'm very emotional and excited. We come from two different countries but our love is common," he told timesofmalta.com.

He informed the seller of the ring, the dinner organiser and Times of Malta about his plans for the evening but the other guests were unaware.

Entrepreneur Mark Weingard and restaurateur Marvin Gauci introduced the Dinner in the Sky concept, which basically consists of a dinner table for 22 people, suspended 40 metres in the sky, suspended under a crane and enjoying the best views of Grand Harbour.
