The following are the top stories appearing in Maltese newspapers today.

The Sunday Times of Malta says Bank of Valletta is investigating a loan worth millions granted to a businessman who paid for a hotel stay in London for the bank’s executive head of corporate finance. In another story, it says the developers of the Townsquare high-rise project are going to start engaging with residents now that they have a permit for their controversial development – and have started to try to set the record straight about “misinformation” on the project.

Malta Today says Labour MP Charles Buhagiar has denied allegations he plagiarised Burmarrad fuel pump planning documents lifting whole statements from those submitted by a rival firm.

The Malta Independent on Sunday says that while the individual at the centre of the medical visas scandal, Neville Gafà, has insisted that no Libyan national had ever been charged for visas to obtain medical treatment, receipts purported to show payments of close to €35,000 made to Mr Gafà between the end of August 2015 and the beginning of October 2015.

Il-Mument says Castille gave the police force instructions in an attempt to destroy evidence on the alleged medical visas scam.

It-Torċa says there is still no national monument dedicated to Maltese composer Charles Camilleri seven years after his death.

Kullħadd says Fitch has changed its rating on Malta from stable to positive.

Illum says that some of the 15 kilogrammes of cocaine found by the police in a Mercedes had been destined for the Għajnsielem festa march.
