Valletta’s Akkademja Kulturali Pawlina is organising a cultural outing on board an old Malta bus to St Paul’s Catacombs in Rabat on Saturday.

This is the first in a series of cultural and informative activities that the Akkademja will be organising over the next months in a bid to promote more cultural awareness, especially those cultural and historical aspects that in a way have a direct or indirect link to St Paul in Malta.

“This visit to St Paul’s Catacombs in Rabat is a beautiful opportunity for all those who to date have never had the time to visit this important and most interesting historical site,” says Pawlu Mizzi, president of the Akkademja.

“However, the events that we plan to organise in the future will go beyond the Pauline cult because the Akkademja’s main interest is that of providing a creative space to all those who appreciate any form of Malta’s culture. In fact, although the Akkademja falls directly under the Għaqda tal-Pawlini – Valletta, the activities we are planning will be open to the public who appreciates the art, culture and history of our country,” Mizzi said.

On the day, the Maltese bus will depart from near the Memorial Bell in Valletta at 9am and will pick up more people from near the Phoenicia Hotel. As soon as group arrives in Rabat a guided tour of St Paul’s Catacombs will take place, followed by lunch at 12.30pm at the Count Roger Band Club. The return trip to Valletta will take place at 2pm. A donation of €20 per person is being  requested to cover costs.
