Operators in Comino had already been fined €12,000 by the end of July, the Malta Tourism Authority said today.

It said in a statement that enforcement did not start when reports of abuse started appearing in the media but had been going on for around two years.

The authority said that the desired level of discipline and order has been reached at the Blue Lagoon and Sta Marija bays.

A team from the authority crossed over to Comino daily to observe and monitor the situation and take pictures, communicating with the offices of the Gozo and Malta authority.
