Floriana came from a goal down before overcoming St Andrew’s 3-1 at the Hibs Stadium.

It was St Andrew’s who took a surprise lead after six minutes when from a corner action Godwin McKay met Ivan Paz delivery with the ball rolling past a surprised Justin Haber, the Floriana goalkeeper.

The Greens tried to hit back and first Nicholas Chiesa was denied by a fine acrobatic save from Jake Galea, the St Andrew’s goalkeeper.

Floriana kept pushing forward without much success until the 24th minute when Samb’s header was somehow kept out by Galea with the aid of the upright.

The Greens were finally level on 47 minutes when Chiesa picked Fontanella just outside the area and the Italian striker anticipated his marker before hitting a firm drive past Galea.

St Andrew’s looked unable to respond and Floriana grabbed a second on 80 minutes when Varela set up Steve Pisani who beat Galea with fierce shot.

Amadou Samb wrapped up the points in stoppage time when he dribbled past Galea before lobbing the ball into an empty net.

Floriana midfielder Nicholas Chiesa was voted as the BOV Player of the match.
