SOS Malta has launched an urgent public appeal for funds to help relief efforts following an earthquake in central Italy that destroyed towns and killed over 250.

The organisation already has a team of sniffer dogs searching for survivors in the area, and is now asking for donations to help buy emergency supplies for survivors.

A devastating earthquake measuring 6.2 on the Richter scale shook central Italy early on Wednesday morning, with tremors felt as far north as Bologna and as far south as Naples.

All donations to this fund will exclusively support locally driven relief and recovery efforts from this disaster, SOS Malta said.

Donations can be made through the organisation's website, by sending a cheque to SOS Malta, 10, Triq il Ward, Sta Venera SVR 1640, or by transferring money to the SOS Malta bank accounts listed below.
