Hackers appear to have targeted Ghostbusters star Leslie Jones after it was reported that explicit photos of the actress were posted online.

The comedienne’s website JustLeslie.com was taken offline following the apparent cyberattack, which reportedly saw copies of her passport and driving licence published on the site.

An image of the dead gorilla Harambe also appeared in an apparent racist insult, along with personal photos of Jones posing with stars including Rihanna, Kanye West and Kim Kardashian West, according to reports.

Several celebrities have voiced their support for the Saturday Night Live star, who briefly quit Twitter last month after she was subjected to a barrage of racist abuse.

Ghostbusters director Paul Feig branded the latest incident “an absolute outrage”, while Oscar-winning actress Patricia Arquette warned those sharing explicit photos of Jones that they were “participating in a sex crime”.

Incident is an absolute outrage

Pop star Katy Perry also defended Jones, writing on Twitter: “Do not give your eyeballs to this racist, hate-filled, misogynoir crime.”

Girls star Lena Dunham tweeted: “Let’s turn our anger at trolls into love for Leslie Jones and into strategies to protect all the heroines who don’t deserve this... ”

Jones, 48, has not commented about the incident on social media.

The American, who was part of the all-woman line-up in this year’s remake of Ghostbusters, has recently been working at the Olympic Games in Rio as part of US network NBC’s coverage.

She called on Twitter to take more action against online trolls last month after she shared a string of racist tweets she had been sent.

“I’m not stupid to not know racism exists,” Jones wrote on Twitter. “And I know it will probably live on way after me. But we have to make people take responsibility.”

A Twitter spokesman said at the time that abusive behaviour was “not permitted” on the site and the company relied on people reporting abuse.
