Spinola Park will start welcoming guests for the first time this weekend to ease the parking problem during this year’s much-awaited St Julian's festa.

Patrons will be charged a discounted flat fee of €2 per car throughout the weekend, whichever time they park.

This week will serve as the soft launch for the new car park, which is adjacent to the St Julian's Parish Church in Mikiel Ang. Borg Street. The car park connects to the church by lift, offering quicker access to the road below.

The 450-space car park is located 150 metres from Spinola's Love monument.

The car park will soon be fully operational with license plate recognition technology and parking guidance technology, a first for Malta.

The car park forms part of the Spinola Park project which will be completed by the end of summer 2017 which will house office spaces, a food court, a supermarket, retail outlets and residential units.
