It is a scene we witness several times daily on our roads, but a picture of a tourist bus driver speaking on his mobile phone while driving through Msida takes the biscuit.

Apart from breaking the law, the irony is that the driver of the hop-on/hop-off bus is speaking on the phone next to a notice for alighting passengers saying: 'Do not speak to or distract the attention of the driver when the bus is moving'.

The reader who shot the picture told timesofmalta.com he had good reason to make such infringements public: "Last month I was almost crushed by one of these hop-on/hop-off buses full of tourists while riding my motorcycle in Marsa because the driver was on his mobile phone. He couldn't care less whether he was changing lanes or not."
