All donations to churches in Malta this weekend will go towards the victims of the Italy earthquake.

On the initiative of Archbishop Charles Scicluna, Caritas Malta, in collaboration with Caritas Internationalis, is appealing for donations to help those impacted by the Italy earthquake. 

"There is an urgent need for help, several children are among the victims," a statement by Caritas said. 

All donations made at parishes on Saturday and Sunday will go towards those impacted by the quake which impacted central Italy, killing more than 250 people. 

Donations may also be given to parish priests or personally delivered to Caritas via a cheque addressed to Caritas Malta Emergency Fund, 5, Triq l-Iljun, Floriana FRN 1514.

The Church appealed for prayers for those suffering as a result of the earthquake.

Church in Gozo in separate appeal for donations

In a statement, Gozo Bishop Mario Grech also appealed for donations. He said he was leaving it up to every parish priest and rector to see how best to organise fund raising activities for those affected by theearthqualke.

Donations can also be sent to Caritas in Gozo.
