I have just read Tony Mifsud’s excellent article (‘We are no barbarians’, August 12). I can vouch for every word he said because I was present at two of the three sessions discussing the morning after pill in Parliament. Sadly, I was unable to attend the last session.

At every session I attended, I listened intently to all the speakers were saying. As Mifsud said, Anthony Serracino Inglott was allowed to speak uninterrupted for 75 minutes. Other speakers who were in favour of the MAP also got lots of time to express their views. However, when it came to the presentation of Miriam Sciberras, Life Network’s chairman, which I watched on Facebook, she was constantly interrupted and hassled by being reminded how much time she had left.

They did the same to Mifsud as was pointed out in his article. I ask myself why, after having meticulously prepared their presentation, they were not allowed a fair hearing. Had it been a court of law, the people from the gallery would have cried “Shame” on the House Committee for allowing such a biased presentation of the subject.

Sciberras and Mifsud are two people with a conscience who know their subject. The fact that they were given such an unfair hearing makes me conclude that the Committee does not want to have all the facts and hear the truth about the abortifacient effects of the MAP.
