Grigg: Will Grigg will miss Northern Ireland’s World Cup qualifier against the Czech Republic due to personal reasons, while Burton’s Tom Flanagan and Dundee loanee Michael Duffy have won their first senior call-ups. It is understood Wigan striker Grigg’s partner is due to give birth and he will therefore remain at home while Michael O’Neill’s squad head to Prague for the first 2018 World Cup qualifier.

Obertan: Former Manchester United and Newcastle winger Gabriel Obertan has joined Russian Premier League side Anzhi Makhachkala on a two-year contract, the club announced yesterday. The 27-year-old Frenchman played only 14 Premier League matches for the English side.

Yedlin: Newcastle have signed United States full-back DeAndre Yedlin from Tottenham on a five-year deal. The 23-year-old, who made 25 appearances for Sunderland during a season-long loan spell last term, has joined the Magpies for an undisclosed fee. The former Seattle Sounders man will fill the void created by the departure of Daryl Janmaat, who moved to Watford yesterday.

Huddersfield: Huddersfield have completed the signing of defender Tareiq Holmes-Dennis from Charlton for an undisclosed fee. The 20-year-old left back has signed a three-year contract with the option of a further 12 months after making five starts and nine appearances as a substitute for the Addicks.

Gudjohnsen: Former Chelsea and Barcelona forward Eidur Gudjohnsen has joined Indian Super League club FC Pune City. The 37-year-old, who was part of the Iceland squad that reached the quarter-finals of Euro 2016, will link up with Pune ahead of the start of the ISL season in October. “Let’s practise the ‘Volcano Clap’ guys as @Eidur22Official signs for @FCPuneCity,” the club tweeted.
