The Association of Airline Engineers this evening approved an agreement proposed by the government and moved by Tourism Minister Edward Zammit Lewis.

The agreement safeguards the government’s interest as the main Air Malta shareholder and those of engineers as airline employees as well as the future of the company.

The minister said that the same considerations was given to the AAE as that given to other unions, where workers were to be the main partners in the airline’s future.

Dr Zammit Lewis thanked the AAE for its cooperation, President Emeritus George Abela, Air Malta chairwoman Maria Micallef and all those present for the meeting.

Similar meetings have already been held with the General Workers' Union and the Union of Cabin Crew.
